Technologist Education

Housing

Students enrolled in the Department of Radiology’s technologist imaging programs are NOT qualified for student housing on the University of Utah campus. On campus housing is in demand and student’s who are not enrolled in a degree major will not be allowed access to the dormitories or other facilities.

The good news is that there is plenty of housing located close to the University Hospital and other medical institutions that the University affiliates with. Past students have also been successful in locating facilities that will offer a six month lease for the MRI or CT program.

Location

The primary goal for most students is to live in a location that is affordable, close to the University and offers a friendly, safe environment. The University is located directly east of downtown Salt Lake City, therefore anywhere near the University is going to be ideal for commuting and city life. There are many housing opportunities along Foothill Drive that are frequently used by students.

With a little farther drive, 15 – 30 minutes, there are more housing opportunities to choose from. Housing in the southeast portion of the valley are all good choices to include Sugarhouse, Holladay, Midvale, Murray, Sandy and Draper. Sugarhouse would be the closest of the southeast areas listed with Midvale/Murray in the middle and Sandy/Draper the farthest.

The purchase of a home while attending the University will require considerable time spent researching the areas to find one that meets your needs. Salt Lake City is a beautiful area with many outdoor recreational opportunities.
