Clinical Education at the University
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at Weber State University is designed as an advanced discipline of study for two-year graduates of radiography programs or the equivalent as determined by the Department of Radiologic Sciences. Students in this program select either a cardiac or medical emphasis. Students selecting the medical emphasis can complete their entire clinical education experience at the University.
A competency-based evaluation system is utilized throughout the program. The student must achieve a predetermined level of competency in the academic and clinical courses in order to receive grades for the course. The clinical education courses require a minimum of 24 clock hours per calendar week in one of the WSU-affiliated health care facility, to include the University.

Weber State Pre-requisitesAs a perspective student in sonography at Weber State, please contact them directly to determine the qualifications and pre-requisites for the program.
To begin this program, you must be an ARRT registered technologist or acceptable equivalent as determined by the Department of Radiologic Sciences at Weber State. After you apply and are accepted, you must maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 in all of your professional courses in order to receive certification. Please visit their website to determine their qualifications for a BS degree in Radiologic Technology.
