Annual Medical Alumni Weekend
The University of Utah School of Medicine Alumni Weekend is an opportunity for alumni, colleagues, and friends of the School of Medicine to gathered for a variety of rewarding and entertaining events. Each year on Thursday evening the Alumni Association holds its annual Alumni Awards Banquet to honor outstanding alumni from the University of Utah School of Medicine and to recognize an individual or group for their contribution and service to furthering the mission of the School of Medicine. In addition, the Awards evening is a time to celebrate and honor those from the 50-year class and induct them into the Half-Century Club.
A variety of School of Medicine departments hold symposiums and department updates in conjunction with the weekend. The SOM Alumni Association coordinates class reunions, giving classmates a chance to come together to renew friendships. As well, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session is held to expand the scope of knowledge for medical professionals. Past CME topics have ranged from Genetics in the 21st Century to Health Care Reform.
